What – no fluffy towels ?

If your idea of fitness is a Pilates session accompanied by gentle perspiration and a little light social conversation – you could be in for a  surprise :-)

We offer a basic environment. Simple old school tools (kettlebells – ropes – medicine balls)  and a great coaching environment.  Its not to everyones taste but, if you wan t to lose weight and get extra ordinarily fit we wiill get you there.

We use thes simple tools, vigorous training and a great community of hard training athletes. We offer group coaching and training using what is probably the best strength and conditioning system in the world.  CrossFit athletes will be fitter, faster, more powerful and more agile than their peers in the gym, pilates class, spinning class. Or in fact pretty much any fitness based class.

If you are unfit or overweight…

The majority of the people coming through our door are unfit or overweight. They are always made welcome. The crossfit recipe for success is simple. Eat right, train hard and repeat. Stick with these simple rules and you will get where you want to be. And we’ll be right beside you every step of the way. No empty promises, no fancy machines and no miracle supplements required.

Crossfit delivers world class fitness, real world fitness and lean powerful athletes.

We require ‘sweat equity’ from you.  In other words plain old fashioned hard work. We wont palm you off with a generalised bodybuilding program with a bit of cardio thrown in. There will be no isolation exercises. You wont be left on a treadmill, a pec deck or a shiny machine doing a simulation of human movement. You’ll do compound movements performed with intensity over a wide range of training challenges. Think of it as applied fitness.

We are different.

To be clear:  we are not here to offer a gentle work out 2 or 3 times a week.  We reject whole heartedly  a low skill,  low intensity approach to training.  With us you’ll get a coach – group personal training and intense workouts far in excess of what you get from the gym or circuits class. You’ll be coached to use your body properly and efficiently.  You’ll learn to fall, roll, punch, sprint, jump, throw, pull, swing kettlebells , carry and deadlift.

Tabatta, HIIT, kettlebells, Snatch clean and jerk will become part of your vocabulary.

Every CrossFit session is different. Every Crossfit session requires commitment. But the results speak for them selves.

CrossFit+sensible eating= Results.

You have to remember the commercial Gyms have an agenda – and its not the same as yours….

The drop out rates for gym membership is approaching 80% in the first 12 weeks.  Thats why you have to sign a 12 month contract.

As far as most commercial gyms are concerned – they are not worried if you drop out. They are in the selling memberships business not the changing fitness business. Most commercial gyms cannot could not  meet the demand should their lapsed customers return to regular training. They work on the model based around that 80% with continued payments for 12 months.

This is why  you get a generic’ work out plan’ based on 1970′s bodybuilding (isolation exercises – cardio machines). Its cheap to deliver – requires minimal skilled staff and retention of business is not important as you are committed for 12 months anyway.

It is widely known that these exercises are not effective for the general population and develop unbalanced injury prone individuals. Free weights – olympic lifts – high variability and high skill training are the way to go for fit, strong and healthy clients. However – its not as profitable as a business model.

Train for something meaningful

CrossFit trains you for something meaningful. For some it may be to become a better at a sport or vocation. Maybe a fitness test for the Marines, Police, Fire Brigade, Army etc. For others, it can be something far more important like pushing back the clock as they get older. Or maybe reversing the effects of poor diet and a lack of exercise. Or maybe just wanting to feel younger and more able again.

This is what we do – we offer structure, coaching and a supportive environment, in fact for many – CrossFit becomes almost addictive.  What ever your goal it has to really matter to you.  And guess what – if it matters to you – it matters to us,  so together we will get there.

  1. If you are not aware, CrossFit Cardiff is opening it’s doors to the public a week this Saturday, the 5th of Feb. We would love it if you could come across and join us for the day. There will be a fair few of the UK CrossFit community attending and to have a CFB face would be awesome!! Drop me a line, if you can’t make that day then you have an open invite whenever suits you.
