CrossFit – Bristol: Frequently Asked Questions
Monthly pay as you go training – no Lock ins – No penalty clauses – Just great training !
If you have any questions – please feel free to contact us via email or call (078 1234 6025).
Training with us is simple…
We provide skilled coaching, support, the appropriate tools and advice. You provide the effort and horsepower.
Train hard + eat right = real results.
No empty promises – no contracts and no Bull.
Do I have to be fit to train with you?
No. CrossFit work outs can be scaled to different abilities. CrossFit training is unparalleled in its effectiveness but is always be approached progressively. The key ingredient to success here is real commitment.
Is training competitive ?
Yes – we use positive peer group support and friendly competition. It makes sessions great fun and encourages people to work harder. But its positive and no, we dont do egos – they dont like CrossFit. We offer a friendly community of like minded athletes who adhere to this unparalleled training methodology.
There are no egos, and no bull. Just a great community of people training hard together – and a little friendly competition. Dont worry we have all started somewhere.
Why train at CrossFit Bristol rather than join a gym ?
In a word – Results. Thats why we dont make you sign a contract – and they do.
You cant compare the results of 3 months at a gym with 3 months CrossFit. The Crossfitter will be fitter, faster more powerful and leaner. Moret importantly – The CrossFitter will probably still be training.
Joined the Gym in January – dropped out in March – still paying in December !
Sound familiar ? In the fitness industry there is a drop out rate of almost 80% in the first 12 weeks (yes, thats why they make you sign a 12 month contract or pay a premium if you dont). With CrossFit Bristol the opposite is true.
Crossfit Bristol has a retention rate of over 80% for the first 12 weeks.
The reasons for this huge difference ? The Experience. The Method. The Community and The Results.
\CrossFit builds on a great community and competitive ethos.
Do I have to sign a 12 month contract?
No. We are in the personal change business – not the gym business – no dodgy contracts
We charge each in advance each month.
CrossFit Bristol = No contracts – no penalty fees and no lock ins.
What is a session like ?
Every session is different and this is the great thing with CrossFit. The constant change. You might train inside, outside, run, row do kettlebells, punch focus mitts carry a partner or in fact anything. But the sessions are fast, fun and dynamic. The constant adaptation to training means there are few plateaus. And we dont get the inevitable 90 day weight loss/fitness plateaus seen in gym members. We have people 4 years in and still excited by their next session.
What can I expect when I train.
Its hard to be specific as sessions are so varied. But that said we have a general pattern of training.
1. Warm up – light movements Callisthenics’s or movement games (tag, touch games etc) anything fun, fast and light to increase your heart rate.
2. Specific physical preparation- Skills training
This could be learning olympic lifts , kettlebells, or good form over a range of tasks. This is really important as it teaches you how to use your body correctly. These are fundamental skills missing in modern fitness and make CrossFit so effective for professional athletes, fighters and Military.
3. The W.O.D. – Work out of the day This is the core of the programme. Its short 10 – 20 minutes – intense (where a sufficient fitness base exists) and highly varied. We use W.O.Ds from CrossFit and write our own that are geared toward combat conditioning and Krav Maga.
Cant I just do the W.O.D’s on the site, why come to you?
CrossFit is freely available on the net – you dont have to train with us to access it. What we offer is sound coaching, motivation, intensity and community.
Remember – High Intensity + correct coaching= faster results
Training with us, you’ll trainer harder, better, and get more support with technique, motivation and diet. Our drop rate is low which means you’ll probably train more to.
What should I bring to training ?
1. Fluid – dont waste money on the sugar laden energy drinks.
2. Good trainers – you may run walk – kettlebell or sprint – always assume you’ll run. No plimsoles or canvas shoes or flip flops.
3. A towel. You’ll sweat – I mean real sweat, not gentle persperation….
4. Something warm – fleece – hoodie to go on over the top of your training kit when you finish.
5. A light washable, shower proof coat – in case the W.O.D is outside.
6. Eat something light or eat some nuts at least an hour before training. Dont come having just eaten or not having eaten since lunch.
7. A positive attitude and a High expectation for yourself.

I know CF is huge into Paleo I’m not sure I’m convinced (been rednaig a lot about it). I’ve been on a fitness kick too but rather than doing something like Paleo I’m cutting out processed food, and it seems to be a good fit. What is your impression of being able to get all your needed nutrients and fiber and such on Paleo? How do you not eat rice in Thailand????? Anyway happy for you and all your fitness success that is awesome!!!!!
This sounds great but I’m 62. Not sure I could handle it. What time are the sessions?
Jenn, thank you for your interest in Monroe County CrossFit! You are cocerrt that a lot of woman continue participating in CrossFit during pregnancy. We have had woman here that have. It is very hard to answer your specific question without some more information. Have you been exercising up until this point? What does that exercise consist of?
